The Generalization Effect:
Understand the Generalization Effect in EFT: when Aspects or issues are collapsed using EFT, the outcome may generalize over similar Aspects or issues.

As a result of over 40 combined years using and teaching EFT, we know what it takes to get the best possible results with EFT, and also how best to help people absorb and apply what we teach.
To make this possible, our trainings have been enhanced beyond the core EFT International Syllabus (the organisation with which we accredit potentially EFT practitioners).
We teach an enhanced syllabus for all our EFT trainings which includes both the EFT International Syllabus and our own EFT Training Syllabus. You will see these are shown separately below.
The syllabus elements is covered or expanded upon in the provided EFT Level 1 manual. Participants are strongly encouraged to read the extensive manual after the training as it deepens into the material covered but also gives much useful information outside the syllabus.
Note: The EFT Training College reserves the right to make changes to syllabus elements and their order at any time.
Duration: 14 hours taken as 2 days or 4 x half days.
Prerequisites: Everyday EFT Tapping Full Course ("Intro to EFT").
Understand the Generalization Effect in EFT: when Aspects or issues are collapsed using EFT, the outcome may generalize over similar Aspects or issues.
Know that there are additional points and strategies that can be used when needed, and under what circumstances they may be useful.
Know how to use calming techniques effectively (continuous tapping, no talking, going global, and so on) when emotional intensity is high.
Recognise cognitive shifts and understand the importance of allowing these to arise from the client, rather than pushing cognitive changes in a session.
Have a brief overview of how traumatic experience affects the body (big “T” and little “t” traumas).
Know how to do the Movie Title Technique and how it is used for protective distancing, thorough exploration (slowing things down, working with each emotional crescendo), and neutralising the effects of past troubling memories at the "overview" / macro level. Trauma specialisation requires extensive skill and experience; emphasising safety over all.
Learn how to do the Tell the Story Technique which is a powerful technique for gently addressing the deep / fine aspects of Significant Emotional Experiences / Traumas, as well as identifying the beliefs and vows created from such experiences.
Ask whether the person has received medical attention for this. Apply EFT to the symptoms as well as the emotional contributors of physical issues. Ask curious questions to discern relevant Aspects. Describe and use Chasing the Pain (follow the most intense Aspects of pain as they move around the body).
Apply EFT to cravings to gain a degree of control and relief. Consider the role of Aspects. Understand that deeper emotional issues are usually involved and the craving is the tip of the iceberg.
Understand the importance of healthy boundaries and confidentiality, particularly with friends and family: the authority of the facilitator role ends when the EFT session is over.
Learn a powerful philosophy and strategy to follow as a client is guided through an EFT session flow. Understand how this dramatically reduces the chances of activating overwhelming trauma and discomfort, thereby making it safe to address particularly upsetting issues safely and very efficiently, whilst reducing the likelihood of resistance.
Understanding that any significant past experience can have far reaching effects – not only strongly traumatic ones. Hear an example of how even a strongly positive experience can be a significant turning point, resulting in a major issue.
Learn a metaphor that helps give deep clarity around the huge different between surface (or “overhead”) clearing of a SEE or trauma and a deep clearing – this being a key reason why upset around a past event may keep returning despite healing work.
Learn how many beliefs and vows are created from early SEEs and traumas, how to identify them and then how to use EFT to clear them.
Learn a simple but powerful technique to identify and treat the deep aspects and created beliefs from a past traumatic story where the details are unknown – for example a pre-verbal or even in-utero experience.
Recognise and describe the Apex Effect – when shifts have occurred so quickly the client denies EFT has had anything to do with it, or beliefs there couldn’t have been any problem to begin with!
Ask compassionate, curious questions to uncover Aspects, especially when intensity is no longer dropping or progress is stalled. Explore the relationship between thoughts, the emotions that follow, and where those emotions are felt in the body. Be mindful of relationship boundaries when working with friends and family.
The Personal Peace Procedure: Understand the importance of persistent, consistent self-care work with EFT. Know how to begin the Personal Peace Procedure (pick 5 troubling memories or titles to start).
Know the limits of Level 1: mainly use EFT with self, friends and family. Level 1 is an introduction to foundational skills, and further study is highly recommended. The complexity of an issue can require a higher skill-set.
Troubleshoot additional reasons why EFT make not be working, and what you can do to make progress.
